Safeguarding in Children's Nurseries – Legal Workshop

Macdonald Swan’s Nest Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon
Thursday 2nd July 2015
9.30am – 12.30pm
£54.00 including VAT

Why should I attend?
This interactive workshop, which has been created by dot2dot – one of the UK’s leading specialist day nursery insurance providers – will review the safeguarding issues involved in nursery care from the lawyers and practitioner’s perspective. It will review the liability issues arising from accidental and non-accidental injuries, the processes of investigation, prosecution and the claims and consequences arising from these incidents. Delegates will take away an understanding of the law and legal processes involved and an insight into practical recommendations for managing these incidents in their workplaces.

Who will deliver this?
The workshop will be delivered by a team of expert lawyers from BLM, the UK and Ireland’s leading risk and insurance law firm, and barristers from Deans Court Chambers in Manchester. The team specialise in safeguarding and nursery claims and are recognised as leaders in this field.

What will we review?
The workshop will take delegates through a case study involving an injury to a toddler attending nursery. The events will unfold and will cover the impact of a formal investigation by Police, Ofsted and Local Authority on the nursery, its employees and managers including unwelcome media scrutiny. Delegates will be invited to contribute ideas and suggestions of their experiences and how they would manage the incident. A panel of experts will lead the discussion, providing legal advice and insight into best practice.
