Stanmore Insurance, the broker behind Nursery Scheme dot2dot, last night was crowned ‘Schemes Broker of the Year’ at the prestigious Insurance Times Awards held at the O2 in London. Stanmore’s award scheme beat 11 other schemes brokers to the prize.
Speaking about the event in their publication, the Insurance Times said, “The awards, celebrate the biggest and best in general insurance, they are the highlight of the UK insurance calendar.”
dot2dot, the brainchild of Stanmore Director Jackie Hyde, impressed the judges with the level of support and expert advice their customers receive.
Jackie set up the scheme 14 years ago after seeing first-hand the lack of suitable insurance that was available for nurseries in the market. Since then she has fine-tuned and developed the proposition to include added support and solutions to the problems her customers routinely face.
This includes help when the worst happens. With access to expert safeguarding solicitors BLM should an allegation be made, plus reputation management services to protect the business interests of the nursery. Clients can also get help to find a reputable builder through a partnership with the National Federation of Builders and get 24/7 support for HR and Health & Safety issues. The added benefits don’t end there; with help with disaster recovery and clean-up, building valuations, asbestos compliance and recruitment support, all part of the dot2dot proposition.

This customer first attitude clearly struck a chord with the judging panel as did dot2dot’s new branding, which launched this summer. The new tagline “the bear that cares” encompasses their customer service philosophy and their soft and cuddly mascot Stanley Bear is perfectly suited to the market they support.
“The brand doesn’t look like anything else in the marketplace and that’s important to us, we want to stand out from the competition and be relevant to our customer base. We’re delighted that the judges picked up on this.”
Stanmore Insurance Brokers employs 22 members of staff and is based in Little Lever, Bolton. The business was formed in 1962 and has continued to go from strength to strength supporting local business and individuals. As well as their work with nurseries nationally through the dot2dot scheme.
